Mural Opening Friday June 10 2nd Friday Art Walk: 5pm-9pm Artist Talk: 5pm - 6pm in Theater Two; Doors open at 4:30pm Smith Rafael Film Center, San Rafael CA Join us for an evening of art, storytelling, delicious food, and good vibes in the San Rafael Arts District! I just completed Where the Fountain Dreams, a new public art installation commissioned by the City of San Rafael and the Downtown San Rafael Arts District (DSRAD), with project facilitation by Local Edition Creative. Supported in part by the California Arts Council, this tile‑based artwork reimagines the memory of the fountain that once animated the plaza. The piece explores the idea of flow—how water sustains, connects, and transforms—through organic forms inspired by roots, lichen, and imagined microscopic life.
The installation features intricate patterns that evoke the unseen organisms carried within water, creating a living, dreamlike landscape across the plaza’s surface. By blending ecological imagination with the site’s history, the artwork invites passersby to pause and reconnect with the rhythms of nature embedded in urban environments.
