This work talks about the complexity of human relations. I developed this project when I was living in Madrid, in the Lavapies neighborhood.
Lavapies is a very centric neighborhood with lots of social decomposition, massive immigration and architectural decay. I wanted to acknowledge this fact by spending time walking in the streets and observing people’s interactions. I created a series of round soft sculptures made with recycled shirts, socks and other clothes collected from the streets and donated by neighbors and friends.
These big intricate shapes symbolize the diversity of human nature with all their desires, fears, ambitions and problems of identity. The subjective nature of the urban experience situates my work between what I see, the Cityscape and what I imagine, the Dreamscape.
