FLORA AND FAUXNA
Fabric, Glue and Wire
7' and 5' each
Acrylic and Charcoal on Ralph Lauren Wallpaper
2008
Inspired by the proximity of nature to the city and the relationship that traditionally women have with fabric and textile art, I created a series of ivy shaped sculptures with recycled fabric. Traditionally, women have always been the collectors and herbalists who were in touch with nature. This closeness between nature and daily life is prompted in this work.
Flora and Fauna was created while I was in residency at Millay Colony for the Arts, upstate New York.
