PIGEON PALACE
Charcoal, Acrylic and Varnish
Site specific drawing in the Pigeon Palace, Mission District, San Francisco
30' x 5'
2010
In March of 2010 I designed and painted this mural in a recently restored Victorian flat in the heart of the Mission District. Using just charcoal and a water based varnish I playfully wrapped the long walls and corridor with growing branches of this plant inspired in an Ayahuasca plant. Ayahuasca has a long time relationship with humans for therapeutical and ritualistic reasons and has provide healing and personal growth since ancient times. This works highlights the relationship that certain plants have with humans and the magical gift that the natural world offers to human transformation.
