In October 2011, Z Space Theater featured the screening of Stop & Go Rides Again, a diverse collection of animation work by an international roster of artists. The screening program paired with physical artworks that illuminate a deeper connection between the artists' primary practice and the process used to create their animations.
For this exhibition I created a new site-specific charcoal drawing in the interior of the Z Space Theater. This work is inspired by the series of animations called Tenderloin Dreamscapes. In this project, long tangles of hairlike charcoal drawings seem to flow and wrap certain walls and buildings of the Tenderloin and Central Market area.
